Hi, I have object with attached OLE object so I have attachment link for example: http://localhost:8080/dwa/doorsattachment?variant=image&obj=AB:55422447386d3378:23:2100000200:2800000046:ff00000000&src=urn:telelogic::1-55422447386d3378-S-70-00000200&sv=1444319245
But an error accrues when I try to download it throught entering the URL in browser:
I need for specific Object to make a Doors service which has to return the content of the embedded OLE object as binary, because the file in the OLE can be picture, pdf, zip ,etc.? Is it possible? Dinio - Wed Dec 02 11:03:55 EST 2015 |
Re: How to download atachment in OLE object in DOORS 9.5.1.2 ? This question you should repeat in the Doors Web Access forum. However if you plan to not use DWA but make your own DXL then you are right. When you say 'service' you mean web-service? If you plan to do it "right", note there are existing adapters to DOORS you can use. We are using the MD Workbench Server of Sodius at Continental to read/write data from DOORS. If you need details on that please contact Sodius. There are other commercial adapters too. If you plan to make a quick and dirty or an inhouse solution, you can setup a webservice, that calls a DXL batch, which writes the result to a file, which the webservice again serves to the users. I started a project on that, but I never came to finish (like lots of my DXL projects), which I called 'DriveDoors'. The idea was to have a generic interface to DOORS allowing to pass data in and out of DXL scripts easily and expose the DXL scripts like services to the outside (e.g. to a language like java, python, etc.). If you are interested on that, I could also pick up the work on that one again. Regards, Mathias |

Regards, Mathias Hi,Matthias I do not know what is the best solution so I am searching my first idea is to create DXL batches which to download, upload the files to DOORS then we need to make synchronization and so on, now I understand that there is COTS solution for this, am I right? Which can do this work for me. - And what is DWA?
Yes, I am interested.

- Ad using DXL batches how to download OLE object? DWA = Doors Web Access. The link you posted is a DOORS Web Access link, so I figure you are using that. Yes there are a couple of COTS solutions, which will handle the data access to DOORS for you and enable you to focus on the business logic. You need to decide however how much you are willing to invest and if this is a longterm solution, that you need to maintain and support or a short time solution.
Regarding the Open Source Interface for DOORS contact me privately (You can find my email on the forum or send me a PM).
For DXL Code to "Download" OLE objects you can search the forum. Still there is the question, what you mean by "Downloading an OLE Object". There is two things that can be done easily from DOORS: a) Get a Preview Picture for an OLE object b) Get the Richtext of the embedded OLE object (i.e. an RTF document, that contains the OLE Object you are looking for)
Converting an embedded OLE Object to its native file format (.doc, .docx, .pdf, etc) is a very different problem and tricky (even with COTS for access to DOORS): The Doors client uses the Microsoft RichEdit Control to edit attributes. This control will store embedded OLE Objects inside the richtext. So to get to the content of the OLE Objects inside the richtext (and to do it right) you would need to do the following: - Create a Richtext Control and load the attribute content of the DOORS attribute - Use the interface of the Richtext control to aquire an interface to the contained OLE objects storage. - Extract the OLE Data from that storage Now when you got the OLE Object data, you would need to access the compound document stored inside to extract the file contents. Shortcut: Okay, there is a shortcut. You can immediately from the richtext try to create a .doc, .docx, etc. file. The file data is inside the OLE data block. We used some code in production, that would find certain markers for files inside the OLE data and extract the original file from it. But I would consider that a hack, that you will never know, when it will break down. Summary: If you can avoid the requirement of extracting the original .doc, .pdf, etc. from an embedded DOORS OLE Object, do that by all means. Convince the users to be satisfied with working with .rtf documents. Regards, Mathias |
